SECRETS - TRINITY TO STACKING
Ara L. - Apr 12, 2022
As an emerging trend, stacking has transformed into being desirable and fashionable. It doesn't take any particular skill to get the perfect stack. But, sometimes, our imagination is more of a mental block, and a little help may go a long way.
Our in-house team often interacts with our A&A community. Numerous chats on how jewellery is worn are something we can never avoid here. We worked collectively to pull together a science or a reference guide behind stacking and layering. If you need a little help, use our quick guide on stacking below.

The Trinity to Stacking
Simple
Simple pieces are your minimalist, monotone finish, either high-polished or satin, the dependable backbone to your stack. They don't entirely overpower the set; they're your reliable piece in the scene. The subtlety of colour and design will further help emphasize all the pieces together.
Starter
The starter pieces take you a step beyond. It takes the simple ideology and adds texture and design to each piece. That texture will give you a proud yet somewhat subtle addition, getting you to add a sparkler easily. For any piece of jewellery, the starter will have an added design, offering extra shine through reflection. Or a simple added design to add complexity to your stack.
Sparkler
The sparkler is like the showstopper. We're not saying you put as much into this piece as possible. You choose something with a little more. It would include Gemstones and, or Diamonds, setting an intense shine to that piece and a perfect addition to your overall stack.
Using the trinity to stacking doesn't mean you're limited to 3 pieces. It also doesn't mean that each piece needs to match what we're suggesting. The trinity is your guide, and your personal preferences are so necessary. The trinity has no specific order, so do it if you like to pull a Starter - Sparkler - Simple! More importantly, tag us @aajewelsco to be featured to promote your beautiful choices and design ideas.
Things to Remember
A few considerations are outlined for you here before getting started on your stack, whether it be a ring or necklace stack. Use these to help maintain your jewels and avoid potential damage, allowing you to wear your jewels with ease.
Rings
Multiple rings will take up more space on your finger when you start stacking. Each ring you add will force you to a larger size. You should be okay if all of them you're stacking are already slightly loose-fitting. However, if you're planning your stack, consider your 2nd or 3rd ring to have a quarter or half size difference from your 1st ring; this will ensure a perfect fit.
Necklaces
Pendants take up more space than we typically imagine. If your Simple, Starter, or Sparkler has a charm, measuring the distance between the two necklaces will ensure pendants aren't overlapping. Note that they will scratch and cause natural degradation over time if they are.
On the other hand, necklaces with wider pendants like nameplates are typically worn higher in your stack, allowing the longer hanging pendants more space to show.
Bracelets and Chains
It's hard to avoid overlapping your chains around your neck or wrist (especially your wrist). If your set succumbs to overlapping and knotting, take your time to take it apart. A sudden pull can lead to breaking your beloved piece. Forced breakage of jewellery is not supported under any warranty and will require you to spend a bit of money to bring it back to new.
If the overlapping knots are too tricky to take out, visit your jeweller for them to take a few moments to help you out. We often have our clients visit for a quick hand untying their knots on chains. At A&A Jewels Co., this is a service free of charge, helping you get back to wearing your jewels with happiness.
